Award Details
- A base amount of $300,000 per Assisted Unit, adjusted for bedroom size and deeper affordability; or,
- The amount necessary to enable the acquisition, development and construction or Rehabilitation of the Rental Housing Development; which shall not exceed the total eligible costs required, when considered with other available financing and assistance, including the full amount of any tax credit equity generated by the Project; or,
- $10 million per Program application.
Eligibility
- Tribes and Tribal Entities, as defined in Article VII of this NOFA, located in California, that demonstrate sufficient experience and capacity to develop, own and operate affordable housing.
- Tribes and Tribal Entities may apply individually or jointly with a Local Public Entity or a nonprofit or for-profit corporation, a limited liability company (LLC), and/or a limited partnership (LP) as a Co-Applicant.
Eligible Activities
Eligible uses include:
- Acquisition and/or Rehabilitation of motels, hotels, or other sites and assets, including homes, apartments or vacant land, manufactured housing, commercial properties, and other buildings with existing uses that could be converted to permanent housing;
- Conversion of units from nonresidential to residential purposes;
- New construction of dwelling units;
- Relocation costs for individuals who are being displaced because of the Tribal Homekey+ Project; and,
- Capitalized operating subsidies for units purchased, converted, constructed, or altered with funds provided pursuant to HSC section 50675.1.3
Duration
Notable Requirements
A Limited Waiver of Sovereign Immunity and Jurisdiction and Venue is required. See solicitation pages 48 and 49 for the exhibit language. Threshold requirements vary by use type. See solicitation for details.
Preferences
Priority will be given on a first submitted, first reviewed basis to eligible projects that demonstrate the highest degree of readiness to proceed upon application submission. “Readiness” shall be evaluated based on site control, the extent to which threshold and feasibility requirements are met, and extent to which the application is complete and correct.
