Award Details
- Heat Pump Water Heater Incentives:
- If customer receives electricity from a SoCal utility and their income does not qualify, then incentive amount is $2,100.
- If a customer’s income qualifies, the incentive amount is $3,500.
- If the HPWH is 55 gallons or larger, then $700 kicker is earned.
- If the HPWH uses a low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerant (150 or less), then an additional $1, 500 is earned.
- Air-Source Heat Pump HVAC Incentives:
- $1,000 per unit for Californians without previous electric air conditioning and/or leaving their existing furnace in as backup or for air handling.
- $1,500 per unit for Californians with previous electric air conditioning and fully decommissioning their existing furnace.
- Equity incentive of $3,500 per unit for Californians without previous electric air conditioning and/or leaving their existing furnace in as backup or for air handling.
- Equity incentive of $4,000 per unit for Californians with previous electric air conditioning and fully decommissioning their existing furnace.
- Air-to-Water Heat Pump Incentives
- Market rate air-to-water heat pump incentives range from $3,500 or $5,000, depending on the global warming potential of the equipment. These projects will be reserved from the HVAC market rate budget and will not have higher equity incentives available.
Eligibility
The incentives are available for California residents of single family homes. All incentives must be passed through the contractor to the customer. Southern California is SCE and SDG&E electric, and publicly-owned utilities below PG&E/SCE territory line. Please note: Single Family TECH Clean California HVAC incentives will not stack with current or future HEEHRA Phase I applications.
Eligible Activities
Incentives are available for heat pump water heaters, air-source heat pump HVAC, and air-to-water heat pumps.
Notable Requirements
Single family customers must work with a TECH-enrolled contractor. HPWH requirements: The project must be a non-heat pump to heat pump installation. There can be no new construction, retrofits only. The customer must enroll in demand response (DR) program and the contractor must help facilitate enrollment. The customer must enroll in time-of-use (TOU) program. The customer must enroll in a water heater rewards program.
