Award Details
- Option 1: SDG&E Owned, No Cost Installation
SDG&E pays for, constructs, owns, and maintains all infrastructure up to the charging station. Customer pays for, constructs, owns, and maintains charging stations.
- Option 2 (recommended for Tribes): Customer Owned, Rebates to Reduce Installation Costs. SDG&E pays for, constructs, owns, and maintains all infrastructure up to the meter. Customer pays for, constructs, owns, and maintains “customer-side infrastructure” and charging stations. SDG&E provides a rebate of up to 80% of the cost of “customer-side infrastructure” is available.
Maximum Rebate Amounts Available:
- $3,000 per charger: EVSE power up to 19.2 kW
- $15,000 per charger: EVSE power 19.3 kW up to 50 kW
- $45,000 per charger: EVSE power 50.1 kW up to 150 kW
- $75,000 per charger: EVSE power 150.1 kW and above
Eligible sites will receive a rebate for each qualified charger for the lesser of 50% of the cost of the charger or the maximum amount based on power output as detailed above, not to exceed 50% of the cost of the chargerNote: Additional resources and financial incentives are also available for fleets operating in disadvantaged communities and small business fleets.
Eligibility
Fleets must meet the four basic criteria:
- Demonstrate commitment to procure a minimum of 2 electric fleet vehicles
- Demonstrate long-term electrification growth plan and schedule of load increase
- Provide data related to charger usage for a minimum of 5 years
- Own or lease the property where chargers are installed within SDG&E’s service area and operate and maintain vehicles and chargers for a minimum of 10 years
Eligible Activities
Power Your Drive for Fleets is applicable to Class 2-8, on-road and off-road vehicles including: medium- and heavy-duty trucks and vans; transit, commuter, and school buses; transport refrigeration units; airport ground support equipment; port equipment; forklifts and other equipment.

Notable Requirements
Option 1 for Tribes would require an easement and engagement with the BIA whereas Option 2 would not. Vehicles planned to be used with chargers must have a vehicle weight above 6,000 lbs. Electric trucks, minivans, and forklifts qualify.
Preferences
While all SDG&E customers operating medium- and heavy-duty vehicles are eligible for assistance through the program, certain sectors are particularly well suited for electrification including: Regional Fleets, Shuttle Bus Fleets, and Service Fleets. The higher the number of vehicles used for your project, the better. A letter of attestation from a company or organization that will have exclusive use of your chargers is an option for applicants with fleet vehicles they do not own.
