$4 million to $9 million; application budgets are limited to $1.8 million total costs (direct and indirect) for each 12-month budget period
Eligibility
Native American Tribal Organizations (other than federally recognized Tribal governments), Indian/Native American Tribal Governments (Federally Recognized), Indian/Native American Tribal Governments (Other than Federally Recognized), and Tribally Controlled Colleges and Universities (TCCUs).
Eligible Activities
ERCs must consist of four Required Components:
- Academic Training Programs
- Evaluation and Planning Core
- Continuing Education (CE) Program
- Outreach Program

Notable Requirements
The overall Academic Training Programs budget (aggregate of core, allied, and certificate programs) must allocate a minimum of 70% of direct costs to trainee costs (stipends, tuition/fees, travel). Scoring of each required component will be conducted separately and will be reviewed based on significance, key personnel, innovation, approach, environment and more criteria found in section V of the solicitation.
Preferences
The ERC should establish a regional presence by demonstrating collaborative efforts with a diverse and broad range of organizations, institutions, businesses, federal, state and/or local public health and regulatory agencies, labor, worker advocacy groups and professional associations. Applicants must identify other ERCs, NIOSH-supported Training Project Grants and other NIOSH-supported centers and describe how they will collaborate and build OSH capacity, while avoiding overlap of services. All objectives and outcomes must positively impact the US workforce and provide leadership to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses. Worker populations need to be positively impacted and applicants should be able to describe the public health impact of the ERC.
