Award Details
Vouchers are provided in set amounts based on the vehicle’s class (GVWR), technology, and fleet type. Base Voucher amounts vary widely by vehicle class. See Implementation Manual for voucher breakdown details. Plus-up funds are available for vehicles operating in disadvantaged communities, drayage, and school buses.
Eligibility
Tribal governments eligible for HVIP include all federally recognized Tribes in California listed on the most recent notice of the Federal Register, and non-federally recognized Tribes, including those listed on the California Tribal Consultation List maintained by the California Native American Heritage Commission. Tribal governments are also eligible for the increased voucher enhancement for vehicles domiciled in a Disadvantaged Community (DAC). For the Innovative Small E-Fleet Program (ISEF), Tribal governments are eligible for the Revenue Cap Exemption. California Native American Tribal governments are exempted from the Fleet Size Cap. Eligible Activities
Purchasing a new HVIP-eligible vehicle. Vehicle Purchaser must be an eligible commercial, nonprofit, or public fleet operating in California. Vehicle must be a new zero-emission or plug-in hybrid truck or bus (excluding pickup trucks and recreational vehicles). The vehicle must be CARB-certified and listed on the HVIP-Eligible Vehicle Catalog. The vehicle must operate in California for a minimum of three years after redemption.
