Award Details

Applicants who submit proposals with multiple EV charging stations may only receive up to 35% of the total funds available.

Eligibility

Open to all private entities, excluding investor-owned utilities, and is also open to California Tribal Organizations serving California Native American Tribes. Eligible Applicants must have less than or equal to 50 active projects across all CEC-funded zero-emission vehicle infrastructure grant agreements, including block grants, at the time of agreement execution. EV charging equipment that receives incentive funding from another CEC grant funding opportunity or block grant incentive project is not eligible for funding.

Eligible Activities

Each application must propose to design, install, operate, and maintain between one and 20 public light-duty EV charging stations in an eligible location. Applicants are only eligible to submit one application. Proposed EV charging stations must not be sited at an existing or planned NEVI station from NEVI funding rounds 1-3.

Duration

Each proposed EV charging station must operate for at least five years.

Notable Requirements

Applications must include exactly 20% total match share of total allowable project cost. If a California Tribal Organization with sovereign immunity serving a California Native American Tribe with sovereign immunity is listed as a proposed awardee, a resolution approving a limited waiver of the Tribal Organization’s sovereign immunity is required. Note: The waiver does not appear to be required for individual Tribal applicants.

Technical Evaluation Criteria: EV Charging Station Siting and Equipment (10 points), Project Readiness (30 points), Expected Project Benefits (10 points), Project Budget and Finances (30 points), Operations and Maintenance Plan (10 points), Team Experience and Qualifications (10 points) for 100 total possible points.
