To support California Native American Tribes located within the State in advancing land acquisition with multi-benefit nature-based solutions projects.
This first-of-its-kind project provides ongoing strategic support and technical assistance to a cohort of diverse Tribes and Tribal entities across California that are leading initiatives to return, protect, and heal culturally significant landscapes, including waterways, within their traditional territories. This project will provide technical assistance, training, and coaching to overcome the primary barriers to Tribal land return for 31 California Tribes, including barriers in financing and the law. In addition, we will develop differentiated assets for Tribes and Tribal entities, institutional funders, individual donors, attorneys, estate/financial planners, and other relevant stakeholders on supporting the rightful return of land to Tribes. The next funding cycle opening is to be determined.
The Tribal Homekey+ Program supports the development of permanent housing for people and households experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness, and who are also living with a Behavioral Health Challenge. The program provides an opportunity for Tribes and Tribal Entities to develop multifamily rental housing developments, including rehabilitation of existing housing, new construction of apartments, townhomes, or single-family rental homes, including manufactured housing, or conversion of non-residential space to residential housing.
The Coastal Conservancy funds a wide variety of projects along the California coast, San Francisco Bay, and in coastal watersheds to increase availability of beaches, parks and trails for the public, protect and restore natural lands and wildlife habitat, preserve working lands, and increase community resilience to the impacts of climate change.
To help develop and improve essential community facilities in the rural West. This program offers short-term loans for early property acquisition and predevelopment, interim construction costs and long-term permanent financing.
