Grant funding for projects that will accelerate electric vehicle (EV) adoption by connecting prospective drivers with incentives for EVs and residential charging equipment, facilitating home charger installations, and providing education and outreach on EV benefits, charging options, and available incentives. Additional funding of up to $10 million may be made available in the future to support a second phase of work for projects initially awarded under this solicitation.

To fund projects that will strategically deploy high-powered, direct current (DC) fast charging infrastructure to support light-duty electric vehicle (EV) travel along major corridors of the state highway system in southern parts of California. Light-duty vehicles are vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating less than or equal to 10,000 pounds. The purpose is to significantly expand the MDHD EV charging infrastructure along these corridors per National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) formula program requirements, contributing to the national charging network being built under this program.

The Charger Service Skills Accelerator provides grant funding for projects that will increase the qualified workforce needed to service electric vehicle (EV) charging equipment. Funding will support training that leads to portable, industry-recognized credentials and may be used to expand existing training programs to include EV charging equipment service.

Two new opportunities for CALeVIP Fast Charge California Project (FCCP) incentives totaling at least $55 million are coming. These new projects will give site owners and developers two opportunities to move ready-to-build charging projects from planning to installation. Expanding charging access in underserved areas remains a focus of CALeVIP, with FCCP prioritizing projects in disadvantaged and low-income communities and on Tribal lands.

FCCP Window 2 will be open October 7, 2026 ‒ January 14, 2027, with incentives covering up to 100% of eligible installation costs for DC fast chargers, up to $100,000 per charging port.

FCCP Window 3 will be open February 24, 2027 ‒ May 27, 2027, with incentive levels capped at $55,000 per port regardless of power level with minimum output of 150kW.

Communities in Charge is California’s light-duty electric vehicle (EV) charging incentive project funded by the California Energy Commission’s Clean Transportation Program. The program accelerates electric vehicle (EV) accessibility by catalyzing new markets and deploying EV charging stations to cut emissions, boost the economy, and benefit disadvantaged communities. Funding Wave 5 will provide $30 million in incentives for Level 2 and Level 1 Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment in the multi-family housing sector. To qualify, you must be a property owner, authorized lessee, or designated representative seeking support for Level 1 or Level 2 EV charger installations. Funding Wave 5 is expected to launch in Fall 2026.

Power Your Drive for Fleets helps fleet owners and operators reduce operating costs, eliminate emissions, and simplify vehicle maintenance by transitioning to electric vehicles. The program connects fleets with resources, fleet-friendly charging rates, and financial incentives to easily and cost-effectively design and install the charging infrastructure needed to power medium- and heavy-duty electric fleets.

To replace older, high-polluting transit, school, and shuttle buses with new battery-electric or fuel-cell buses. Replacing an older bus with a zero-emission bus eliminates particulate matter and other pollutants that impact children and residents riding the buses, as well as residents throughout California communities.

Access Clean California is a public service program that helps people find and apply for the energy assistance programs they qualify for and make the switch to cleaner vehicles. Eligible Californians can lower the cost of buying or leasing a clean vehicle, access transit and micro-mobility options, and reduce pollution in their communities. The Tribal Energy & Climate Collaborative is partnering with Access Clean CA to provide one-on-one guided support for income-eligible members of California Native American Tribes to navigate the program with ease.

HVIP accelerates the deployment of zero-emission and plug-in hybrid trucks and buses and trucks with electric power take-off (ePTO) systems in California. The program provides incentives (vouchers) to offset the cost of advanced clean commercial vehicles.

Clean Cars 4 All (CC4A) is an incentive program offered to income-qualified residents in disadvantaged communities. The program provides grants to help residents retire their old vehicles and replace them with zero or near-zero emission vehicles or transit cards. CC4A is part of California Climate Investments.
