Electrification Upgrades

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) HEEHR Program provides rebates for the purchase and installation of appliances and building envelopes materials to reduce American homeowner energy bills. The DOE recently released updated program guidance for the High-Efficiency Electric Home Rebate (HEEHR) Program for Indian Tribes, which will distribute up to $218.5 million in grants for energy efficiency upgrades for Tribal homes. All federally recognized Tribes and Alaska Native Corporations are eligible to receive formula awards from the program. Tribes can find their formula award amounts in the funding allocations document.

CEC and TECH Clean California offered multifamily home rebates for eligible equipment and appliances ranging from $700 to $8,000. Update in January 2026: “Due to significant demand resulting in a large number of applications already received, the program has paused any new submissions to HEEHRA Multifamily Application Stage 1 while the program processes existing applications.”

Power Your Drive for Fleets helps fleet owners and operators reduce operating costs, eliminate emissions, and simplify vehicle maintenance by transitioning to electric vehicles. The program connects fleets with resources, fleet-friendly charging rates, and financial incentives to easily and cost-effectively design and install the charging infrastructure needed to power medium- and heavy-duty electric fleets.

The Building Initiative for Low-Emissions Development (BUILD) Program is designed to provide technical assistance and incentives for new all-electric low-income residential buildings that reduce GHG emissions.

The SD EnergyLink program offers cash incentives to SDG&E customers on federal properties and Native American lands that install new, energy-efficient technology, equipment, or systems.

To reduce utility bills for micro- and small-business SDG&E customers operating within Disadvantaged Communities or those defined as Hard-To-Reach.

To accelerate the adoption of clean space and water heating technology across California homes in order to help create an equitable pathway to carbon-free homes by 2045 and install six million heat pumps by 2030.

The SOMAH Program provides financial incentives for installing solar panel systems that benefit both low-income tenants and property owners throughout California. It is designed to deliver renewable energy and credits on energy bills to hundreds of thousands of residents that otherwise would not have access for their homes.

For small and medium businesses seeking energy-efficient upgrades to lower their energy bills while improving the safety and comfort of their spaces.

SDG&E’s Transportation Electrification Advisory Services (TEAS) Program provides one-on-one planning support for businesses and organizations exploring electric vehicles, regardless of where they are in the electrification process. Offerings include fleet electrification planning, pre-energization planning and implementation, post-energization operations, and utilizing emerging technology.
